Project Name:Xing’an Plaza Urban Furniture Renewal Project
Project Location: Yichang, Hubei, China
Design Period: August 2024 – December 2024
Completion Date: May 2025
Project Area: Approx. 3,000㎡
Products Used: Benches, tables, bar counters, booth seating, parasols, red-carpet seating areas

As the first completed phase of the Yiling Sanxiang urban renewal project, Xing’an Plaza has undergone continuous renovation since 2023. The site needed to respond simultaneously to the outdoor leisure needs of long-time residents, the evolving demands brought by commercial upgrades, and the broader urban identity envisioned for the Yiling Sanxiang district. Within a compact site of less than 3,000㎡, the original conditions were no longer capable of supporting these layered and increasingly diverse urban needs.

The project not only addresses the daily needs of local residents, but also integrates the new spatial demands generated by updated commercial functions. The design introduces pergolas and a rich variety of urban furniture elements, including tables, chairs, bar counters, booth seating, parasols, red-carpet seating areas, and gardens. These public resting areas are designed with sufficient shading, ensuring usability throughout intense summer heat, cold winters, and rainy seasons.

Rather than organizing the site through conventional functional zoning, the project differentiates the space according to various modes of relaxation and social interaction.

The Xing’an Plaza rain garden balances functionality, aesthetics, and economic efficiency, integrating ecological landscape strategies into the public environment.

A key visual feature of the project is the “living room parasol.” Through a carefully controlled decorative language and structural form, it provides shaded gathering areas for seating and garden spaces, making the outdoor environment more inviting and attractive for public use.
