Jixiang Street in Chongqing serves as a transitional corridor connecting Wanzhou Port, Wanda Plaza, and the historic old town of Wanzhou. Positioned at the intersection between the city’s new and old urban fabric, the project responds directly to the existing site conditions by preserving much of the original foundation, including the site structure and mature trees.
Large terrazzo steps were introduced to shape the terrain, accented with graphic yellow steel panels that enrich the layered seating environment and create a dynamic public space experience.
At the same time, outdoor bar counters and seating elements were incorporated to form small-scale open-air reading and social spaces. These flexible gathering areas provide residents and visitors with places to pause, interact, relax, and engage in everyday public life.
