The Ningbo Sanwu Road streetscape renovation project improves the existing street environment by reorganizing traffic order, optimizing pedestrian space, adding facility zones and introducing a street furniture system. It addresses issues such as unclear street order, outdated facilities, parking occupying pedestrian areas and street greenery blocking visibility.
With the design theme of “Happy Neighborhood,” the project focuses on street order, environmental quality and lively daily experiences. The site includes street seating, signage, billboards, bicycle racks, non-motorized vehicle parking shelters, GRC planters, landscape lighting, interactive installations and orange bus stop signs. These urban furniture products improve resting, wayfinding, parking, lighting, interaction and commercial display functions. Orange is applied to benches, billboards, interactive installations and some planting elements, creating a warm, lively and recognizable streetscape identity.
In terms of material application, the project uses metal and GRC to meet the high-frequency use needs of daily street spaces. The outdoor seating emphasizes low-maintenance design by reducing the contact area on the upper surface, helping to reduce water accumulation, dust and fallen leaves. Non-motorized vehicle parking shelters, bicycle racks, signage, landscape lighting and billboards mainly use metal components, balancing structural stability, weather resistance and a unified visual effect for the streetscape.
